Getting to New Paltz/Staying in New Paltz
New Paltz, NY is a quaint (yet funky) little town mid-way between Albany and NYC (in the heart of the Hudson Valley). Click HERE for information on New Paltz presented by the chamber of commerce. While in town, try to make time to hike in our local mountains (the Shawangunks; see: http://www.mohonkpreserve.org and: http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=78).
LODGING:
There are two relatively small inns that are within walking distance of campus and several other hotels, motels, and resorts in the immediate vicinity of New Paltz. Here is a suggested list of options. Note that, as is always true, it would probably be wise to make reservations as soon as possible.
1. The Inn at Orchard Heights is a fine bed and breakfast which is willing to offer a special rate for NEEPS members during the conference ($100/night). See: http://www.innatorchardheights.com to reserve a room and/or for information.
2. The LeFevre House is another fine inn that is directly across from the campus (Website: http://www.lefevrehouse.com).
3. The Minnewaska Lodge is a beautiful new structure that is about a 10-minute drive from campus. It is adjacent to the cliffs of the Shawangunk mountains and is simply a very high-quality option (see: http://www.minnewaskalodge.com/).
4. The Mohonk Mountain House a world-renowned resort, is a historical landmark that sits atop a breathtaking mountain 15 minutes from campus. Not cheap (… OK – it’s VERY EXPENSIVE) – but if you have the bucks, it’s an incredible place. Website: http://www.mohonk.com.
5. The New Paltz Super 8 is about a 5-minute drive to campus and they have offered a discounted rate of $59 (just mention “NEEPS” to the receptionist when booking). Call: (845) 255-8865 to reserve your room or see: http://www.super8newpaltz.com for more info.
AIRPORTS:
Three general options exist to get to New Paltz by air.
A. The three New York City airports (Newark, John F. Kennedy, and LaGuardia) are all within a two hour drive. See: http://www.ny.com/transportation/airports/ for information on each airport (including information on ground transportation to travel upstate).
B. The Albany airport is about 70 miles from New Paltz (see: http://www.albanyairport.com/). They also have ground transportation options listed on their website.
C. Stewart International Airport in Newburgh is about a half hour from New Paltz. See: http://www.swfny.com/. They too list ground transportation options on their site.

PARKING:
As is typical of college campuses, parking is somewhat tricky at New Paltz. We plan to have temporary parking permits made for conference attendees. We anticipate that these passes will be available at the Welcome Center (see: http://www.newpaltz.edu/welcomecenter/) in the Haggerty Administration Building (on Rt. 32 South; see: http://www.newpaltz.edu/about/directions.html for directions and http://www.newpaltz.edu/map/ for a map of the campus).
